In this day and age, teenagers are spending more time on their phones or watching TV instead of heading outside and experiencing the world. We see the DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay as our opportunity to help our youth get inspired! Heck, it was a crew of college students in the first place that helped create the oldest relay race in America.
Being one of the few relay races in America to allow high school teams to take part, this is their chance to experience the mountains while building comradery with their friends. We want to give the next generation of active youth a positive outlet through running. So, as part of the 54th edition, we’re giving any high school team that wishes to race a discount. How much? For only $254 they can enter the race!
We Need Your Help!
If you know a cousin, sister’s son, brother’s daughter, or your neighbor’s kid that might be interested in a one-of-a-kind adventure, be sure to share this article with them. As the famous emcee Rakim once stated:
"We gotta teach the children everyday
Keep a song
Show them the light, teach them right from wrong
Make some sense so they can carry on."
Donating to the Youth
If that wasn’t enough, we’re using the race as a way to fundraise for our youth. As part of the 2017 race, we raised over $2,200 for local youth sports teams helping underprivileged kids that don’t have the finaincal means to play sports. But, we know 2018 will be even better! As you run the 2018 race, know that each step you take around beautiful Lake Tahoe is helping our Youth AND Veterans alike. Please join us!
