Being one of the few relay races in America to allow high school teams to take part, this is their chance to experience the mountains while building comradery with their friends. We want to give the next generation of active youth a positive outlet through running. So, as part of the 54th edition, we’re giving any high school team that wishes to race a discount.

That’s how far the shores of Lake Tahoe are from the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The sea of rolling green highlands, deep culture, and the sounds of bagpipes might be distant, but for the 53rd edition of the DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay Race, it will feel like the bagpipe’s bellows are calling to you on your way to the finish line. How can that be? Well, we’ve enlisted the help of Lake Tahoe’s most famous bagpiper...Sean Cummings.

Honoring our Fallen Troops by Partnering With Two Great Causes
May 3, 2017
The DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay has always had a close connection to our troops. This historic race was re-named in 1971 in honor of Captain Robert E DeCelle Jr who was killed in action in Vietnam. On top of that, El Dorado County has the highest per capita concentration of veterans in all of California. Inspired by our good friend Jim Cahill, a veteran and special education teacher in South Lake, we decided this year to go above and beyond our normal way of honoring our fallen troops by partnering with two great causes for even more awareness.
