Things to Know before the 53rd Lake Tahoe Relay

Things to Know before the 53rd Lake Tahoe Relay

Hidee-Ho! Race day is nearly upon us! I hope you’re just as excited as we are. I know there’s a ton of questions running in everyone’s minds. So, to help you we thought we’d send out one last email to answer a few of the major ones.

Registration TODAY ONLY – you can register your team from 2-9 pm at the Tahoe Beach Retreat at 3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd. We will not be doing any registration on Saturday so please pick up you team packet today.

Parking Restrictions – you cannot park at the Tahoe Beach Retreat unless you’re staying at the hotel. You will need to park on Johnson Blvd or in the Safeway parking lot across the street before or after the event. We will provide a map of the locations you can park at, at registration.

Parking Passes – each team will get 1 parking pass good for both Cave Rock and Sand Harbor parking areas. If you drive more than 1 car around the lake you will have to pay $10 at each location.

Safety – Please be safe while running around the lake tomorrow. You will be running counter clock-wise against oncoming traffic. Most drivers are not aware and don’t expect to see runners on the road. Please pay close attention while running. New this year (Cones in Cave Rock): We will provide traffic cones through the Cave Rock tunnel. Please run within the designated cones. This winter, we had a major rock slide 1 mile past Cave Rock at Logan Creek. In this segment, we will have 2 NHP and 2 traffic controllers making sure you get through the area safely. Please obey their direction.

Bathroom – There are bathroom facilities at 5 of the 6 transition locations.

Leg 1 & 2: You can use the facilities at both Cave Rock and Sand Harbor boat launch areas.

Leg 3/4 (King’s Beach): You can use Safeway or there is a facility right at the transition area in the North Tahoe Beach area.

Leg 4/5: If you need to use the bathroom there is a facility across the street at the North Tahoe Transit Center.

Leg 5/6: At Meeks Bay there are no facilities so please be prepared.

Leg 6/7: Emerald Bay there is a facility at Inspiration Point.

Our way of saying Thank you!

As a way to say thanks for racing with us on the 53rd year the following will be provided at the start/finish area:

Local Cup of Joe: In the morning, you will be treated to our local coffee company Alpen Sierra who will be serving hot cups of Joe.

Once you make it all the way around the scenic race course please be sure to relax your tired feet and legs in the ice cold healing waters of Lake Tahoe.

Celebratory Picture: Don’t forget to have your team get their celebratory picture taken.

Free Beer! The only thing better than soaking your feet in the lake afterwards is to have an ice-cold beer (if your old enough, please bring ID). We are fortunate that South Lake Brewing Company has partnered with us this year and have provided you a FREE beer.

Free Food! If you’ve worked up an appetite after your long day the Lake Tahoe Relay crew will be providing some complimentary food for you and your team to enjoy as well. The beer and food are only for the competitors.

Again, thanks for racing with us for the 53rd edition of the DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay. We have a great day planned for you to create amazing memories with you, your family and friends.
