This Saturday was the 59th running of the DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay. We can’t hold back our own excitement that the race returned, and so we thought we’d share our favorite memories from past years. And we want you to share yours too!
YOU Are The Reason We Keep Hosting The Event

Hanging out at the 2018 DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay Race
Organizing an event across two states, multiple counties, and a host of cities makes it feels like we’re not running a relay race but a 72-mile hurdling event. Making sure the t’s are crossed and i’s dotted can be an exhausting process. Every year as runners and volunteers arrive, we get to hear each person’s story. And that re-energizes us! To see the joy this homegrown race gives to friends and families makes all the hard work worth it.
Friends & Family Traditions

A family that runs together, stays together.
With that being said, out of the countless stories, the ones that pull our heart strings the most are the ones about families that have made it their tradition to run. Grandkids, grandparents, brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers coming together every year as a tradition to run the race. Then there’s the stories of the racing clubs that run each year and the international KLM team that came back after a decade hiatus. There are SO many different tales, and each one is just as important to us.
Share Your Story!
We are so happy to host you yet again this year. There isn’t enough exclamation points in the world to do it justice. For this year’s race spread the “stoke” and share some of your best past memories with us!
With that being said, send us your favorite memory or memories of past events to: runtahoe@outlook.com. It can be just a sentence or a full-on saga. We just want to hear from you! Even if you aren’t running the race this year, just know our hearts and minds are still thinking about all of you and hope to see you in 2023.
