There are so many great races in the US and around the world that it’s hard to decide how to fill your calendar. As the Race Director of DeCelle Memorial, I try to go to other events each year to do research and see what others are doing. And for this year – it’s the 2020 Mont Blanc Marathon.
A New Challenge As Well As A Vacation

At this stage of my life, I started looking for new challenges in races. Instead of just focusing on myself, I now look for events that are a great new experience for me AND my family who won’t be running. There is one event that I’ve had my eyes on for years. A place that’s just as magical as Lake Tahoe and that’s the Mont Blanc Marathon in Chamonix, France. I’ve immersed myself in everything about the race and the area. I watched as many videos as I could get my hands on, and they’ve completely inspired me to do it THIS YEAR! Just like the DeCelle Memorial, it’s because of the area (Chamonix), the challenge of the course, and the pure excitement to race such a unique event.
How Did It Come To Be

It’s been in the back of my mind for a while. I kept dreaming of doing the event but realized the logistics and the coordination for me and my family was next to impossible. Luckily, I found the company Travel 1786 who specializes in trips to Chamonix and surrounding areas.
Mont Blanc Marathon – Not Just Any Marathon
If that wasn’t enough, through my research I found out that the event is part of the famous Golden Trail World Series. It’s one of the five major events around the world including one in the US – Pikes Peak Marathon.
I hope this story inspires you to follow your dreams this year. So, plan a trip to race somewhere unique and magical with hopefully a pitstop to Lake Tahoe.
